An actually good novel by the same author as warlock of magus world. Not perfect, but better and more engaging than 99% of other copy & paste novels.
Might as well kick the dead horse while it’s down.
Everyone in the novel so far is dumb as rocks. I’m surprised that their society hasn’t crumbled with the average IQ of each character being in the negatives.
The plot is that the mc is strong, but nobody else knows or understands. The problem is that the author goes out of their way to force other characters to not believe their own eyes and keep on underestimating the mc. The example being the fatty “best friend” side character that gets carried by the mc, but chps latter forgets the MC’s strength
I’m not sure if the reviews below me and I are reading the same novel with all these glowing reviews.
Early start is so standard and follows every trope in the book. If you’ve read one of those lord/everyone novels, you’ll know what I mean. 10000 people are transported to their own train that they can upgrade like a game and have a collective group chat for people to trade and post.
Mc has a special talent that puts them above everyone else. Besides the setting, the plot follows exactly as you would expect. Novel shows how much better the mc’s situation is compared to others and having 30% of dialogue in the novel be from randos in the chat.
Maybe it gets better latter, but so far it’s completely average.
It’s one of those novel that says that their mc is hiding themselves and being cautious, but at every major decision point, the mc is extremely nosy and a busybody. At times, making just really dumb decisions.
Ex - at Chp 14-16 they find a technique on a boulder at a university. Instead of just learning it and leaving, mc deliberately decides to write his own version of it down for others.
Ex - whenever mc gets stronger, they go out and test their strength on the environment. The mc does this 2 times already, both times other people find his traces everywhere. I don’t imagine other characters in this world doing this every time they mastered a skill or get stronger, so why is the mc doing it? Author is forcing this so hard, it’s basically just one of those urban face slapping novels with a off color coat of paint.
First 50 Chp so far and it’s lacking tension and stakes. Everything smooth sailing. It’s doing nothing special that other novels haven’t done so far, don’t even get me started on the college examination arc + now college arc with a mission based system for college (Blegh).
If this was my first novel of this type, the rating would be higher. Go read something like Monster Pet evolution instead.
Terms get repeated a lot. How cruel/ruthless the world is has been repeated for like 5 chaps in a row. Later on, the shop owner mention the mc having good perception over and over again.
Also the MC is one of those who says that they do not want to get into trouble, but isn’t smart enough to hide themselves or avoid unneeded conflict or just run away. They also constantly reveal info and show off without any benefit to themselves.
It’s like the Harry Potter situation where the MC is in the wizarding world but rams through obstacle like he is a Jock.
At the beginning, MC is very passive and just does what the female characters tell him to do. He can’t seem to think or decide things on his own. The setting is urban + superpowers, but the slice of life style doesn’t use it much. Also the harem setting is very meh.
