Time travel is a risky thing. Some people travel to become wealthy merchants on giant ships, some become powerful prime ministers, some become strategists riding white horses, and some become monsters, opening their eyes to find a hairy-faced, thunder-mouthed monk asking for a master. Then they travel to another world. The second time around is still very dangerous. Ghosts appear in the shadows, monsters roam under the night sky, gods are nowhere to be seen, only strange creatures dwell on the throne. "Ah... how scary."

Within a limited but efficient space, construct a suffocating atmosphere of terror; design a gradually escalating and fast-paced horror event; create an isolated protagonist that readers can empathize with; create a source of terror that defies perception and is full of unknown threats; and leave a sufficiently cold and unsettling aftertaste after the climax.
