Let's not forget that these novels were written for Chinese youth mostly based on what they thought was popular for that time period just like how these days the "Many children, many blessings" troupe is popular. At that time it was what their readers found interesting

These guys should first learn to distinguish the difference between a villain, an evil protagonist, a lawless protagonist and an anti-hero. You can't pin the term villain in every stop yet the character is either evil or lawless

Never bothered reading past the broken engagement part. I don't get these authors problem with Nalan Yanran despite knowing that her breaking the engagement has nothing to do with background or talent yet they all use her as a stepping stone. Xiao Xun'er is not that great but there are few fanfics where she's not chosen as part of the Mc's harem. Anyway don't let my review stop you from enjoying the book after all this is just my personal opinion.
