I've enjoyed the read so far but I liked the earliest chapters better , when the MC was still weak and knew how to scheme to kill his enemy discreetly . whereas now he's basically the "war god of huaxia" "hope of humanity" and whatever halos the author wishes to slap on the MC. at some point the story just became the MC's one man show and I suppose he'll somehow solve the monster calamity by the end of blue star arc to become a hero or whatever . basically the MC became so dazzling that it felt like I was reading the last chapters , it's not bad but I just don't like it and lost interest .
I enjoyed the novel so far but there are 2 things that bothers me :
1 : the MC is too much of a good guy , too warm to my likings . I like pragmatic/scheming MC more
2 : sometimes when crisis strikes , the MC goes from cautious/steady template to Xanxia novel protagonist ready to sacrifice himself for the sect ; the change is too abrupt it feels out of place it's like the author wants the best of both worlds but it just turns out weird .
overall , even though it's not the novel of the year it's still worth reading .
seeing this novel so highly ranked (weekly/monthly/all time) I was expecting to be blown away but in the end it was a loss of time . the MC is bland AF , the cultivation levels are a joke (everyone else other than the MC cultivates way too fast for how ridiculously long their lifespan is ) .
the author even failed the MC's system , like he got more body cultivation realm feedback from 1 chosen one than cultivation feedback from the WHOLE clan ( over 2k descendant , including 3+ chosen one ) .
overall there was more thing that ticked me off in this novel than my interest in the story . it was not utter garbage , a decent novel at best if you're bored , but I usually like my novels more structured and a solid worldbuilding that doesn't crumble after 100 chapters .
decent early stages but gets boring fast too , and too fast paced to my likings I'd have liked at least some times skips to make the story more alive instead of just shoving cultivations levels down the MC's throat every 5 chapters .
it's at best a decent novel to chill . you just need to turn off your brain before starting , it's one of those novels where the MC is invincible since the first chapters so there's no real depth to the story .
It's not a genre that I appreciate , but from time to time it's Ok.
I wasn't expecting much when I started but it was a good surprise . I like the story so far , the world building is very throughout and it is not a generic fast paced novel where the MC becomes the top powerhouse of the city in 1 week and everyone else is just fodder .
the MC is very shameless and the comedy is decent .
the only thing that bothers me is that the translation is sometimes trash . as long as you have working braincells you can still understand the whole picture but it can get really confusing
the story was decent so far , the MC was not overly stupid and knew how to ensure his safety while growing stronger but everything changed since the whole plant zombie arc began . It's as if the author forgot the whole plot so far and started writing randomly to keep the story going. like zombies getting angry of feeling fear / pain ...even tho from the start the author kept reminding that zombies have no pain receptors and only act on instinct ....
Overall I still enjoyed the read as I really like the whole post-apo/evolution genre . but with the start of the plant zombie arc the story lost its charm , it got boring and contradictory
( SPOILER-the MC bombed 5 lv6 zombies to death at once even tho they are supposedly immune to missiles...?
there was also a moment when the MC was still weak and managed to solo a zombie horde , but 200 chapters later in the story even with his whole minions army it was a desperate fight with heavy casualties .)
indeed the MC feels incredibly stupid (get exposed on the same day he starts his mission ) but later it gets better , he rarely exposes his pets and those who have seen them basically all died . maybe the author wrote it as such to create a "character growth" effect but it was poorly executed, it just felt like the MC was the stupidest organism alive .
sadly I'll likely drop it even tho I made it past the "stupid" period because the author couldn't resist writing an "academy tournament" or "novel tomb" as I call it.
I don't know how it is for other readers but whenever "X tournament" or "Y championship" happens it just kills my hype for the novel , it just becomes boring and repetitive and it just feels like the arc will never end . it feels like a cheap way to keep the novel alive . no matter what happens or how broken the MC is , some random genius from who knows where will just happen to be as strong as the MC and then they will fight for 3 whole chapters it's just sickening .
TLDR : the novel is decent but early on , the MC feels too stupid to be alive. the idea behind the whole pet system / assassin was good enough but I was expecting the MC to be a behind the scene boss quietly becoming stronger instead of becoming a mainstream novel genius MC known wolrdwide.
