I don't think the story is horrible, I just don't like how the MC does things. the woman in his previous life killed him, so in this life (before they had any interaction at all), he actively finds her in the crowd and beats her up, letting her form a grudge. knowing that this is a vicious woman who would do something like string a guy along with her looks for 6 years to benefit herself. he let her see his face, and she actively hates him now. why didn't he just take revenge later when she would least expect it? like, he's a stranger to her, wouldn't that make more sense? he lived in this world for 6 years so he should be wiser and less rash about things like this. the lord gameplay/kingdom building also isn't a huge focus either in the beginning, which makes the story very boring to me. the adventure maps also aren't described in detail either, so it's difficult to visualise anything that's happening. imagine the MC walking around in a grey space doing things that aren't explained well and you have this story.
disclaimer: I only actually read 10 chapters. the whole premise of the story seems to be nonsense. wdym a woman DREAMED she was assaulted by the MC and the police went "yea seems legit" and actually ARRESTED HIM, gave him a MURDER CHARGE, found NO EVIDENCE bc during the murder time he was in the hospital UNDER CONSTANT SURVEILLANCE, and then TORTURED HIM for SEVEN. YEARS. I genuinely don't know what to say. I don't even know what the author is trying to imply with this. is it that all rape victims are liars? that the police are stupid and corrupt? that all women want to torture men and given a position of power over a man they'd enslave and torture one for no reason? none of the antagonists introduced in the beginning of the book make sense as to why they hate the MC. it sounds like a random classmate had a normal nightmare and decided to ruin this guy's life, the police for no reason agreed to torture this high school student, they specifically found a female detective to "find evidence" who is actively known to torture out confessions and trumped up charges. this world is wack and makes no logical sense. it's not even wack in a humourous way, it's just insane. idk who this would appeal to.
the author's imagination is pretty good. I don't have any complaints about the plot. it's a slice of life of a genius researcher being reborn/transmigrated into a body of a child who has magic talent in a world where knights are more respected. the researcher uses their research skills to literally create the profession called "wizard" from nothing. it's pretty interesting. I will say that I don't like how all wizards de-age when they advance, and they don't de-age to the same age; women de-age to 15-16 and men to 17-18. it's a little sus. made me squint a little bit. other than that, the narration isn't weird.
ETA c84: "You don't understand. Is a woman who has never given birth considered a woman?" what a wild thing to say. anyway he can have kids now, and so can everyone else. idk why this is so common in webnovels. if you make a rule that they can't/won't have kids, why is it always changed later? is the spreading of offspring so important to the Chinese?
the story is pretty interesting when you only consider the first 1/3 of the book. when it starts to get bad is when he gets a human shaped clone, and that clone is a normal human man with desires and everything. I think it kind of ruins the whole god-like being above worldly issues shtick that he was using before. he sleeps with a woman with the human clone body, and then we get an explanation that splitting his soul into 3 means that they're 3 independent entities and also one soul, so it's fine and normal. after that there's an arc where he kills someone, steals their star-travelling ship (vague for spoilers) and ends up being mistaken for the person he killed. he gets dragged into some kind of sadomasochistic plotline where the OG owner of the ship was cuckolded and his ex-fiancée would rather marry a prince instead, and the prince hunts him down and steals the ship. the ex-fiancée's family tries to kill him to appease the prince, so he cuts everyone down. no one believes that he's not the OG ship owner at all, so he gets entangled in drama that has literally nothing to do with him. he said that bc he killed the ship owner he was entangled with cause and effect but...how many people has the MC killed previously? makes no sense. it's a very normal xianxia dog-blood plot but the thing is...the MC is a tree. a tree who has stated that he really doesn't have strong emotions about anything after being turned into a tree. it takes 20 days of plot time where he should be preparing for immortals to attack his home base but instead he's running around avenging the man HE KILLED. this also provokes a bigger enemy that is so obviously the enemy that will show up after this immortal disaster is death with. I'm a little disappointed the author would choose to do this, tbh. even a boring time skip would've been fine. it feels like the original intention of the story is getting lost as the fights have bigger and bigger stakes, so you take the MC on a sidequest for no reason but to plateau tension.
its a female protagonist don't 1 star it for bad translation of the pronouns. there's nothing wrong with it. it's a gender-swapped standard road survival genre. I think it's going fine so far.
c65: ah.... the nationalism starts..... will update if it gets unreadable
ETA: it's fine 👍
there's not a lot of nationalism or racism in this story. it might be bc the US was blown up by Yellowstone at the beginning, and Japan was blasted by hail the size of fists. he doesn't become super OP overnight. he is trading a lot and showing off his wealth, but I don't think it's a big issue? only his best friend knows where his shelter is, and no one actually knows how much resources he has. the more tech he has access to, the more black tech he can create. so he either has to steal tech from somewhere (? how) or trade it for resources that are renewable to him. he has no problems with food production and excess food can get him stuff he needs, so why not do it? his name is Xiao En. both Google translate and ai think his name is Sean. I don't think it's an issue, esp since the author made a Shaun the Sheep joke at the beginning. I am getting a little bored with it but that's bc there's not a lot of conflict in the story, and I don't think it does a good job of expressing tension. he's alone most of the time, and the base progress is also slow. I don't know if it's wise to hand over black tech to people to exchange for more tech that he can upgrade, but any conflict at all in the story is a good thing. the story needs for things to happen. if this guy is alone in this base for all 350ish chapters and never gets into any conflict at all and does everything with ease, that will be incredibly boring.
the author said this is a story for women and she's very correct. I think any man reading this might feel bad, but I really think it's no different from the usual urban cool stories with male protagonists. it's female wish fulfillment at the peak. I still support the author unconditionally.
it's a normal beast taming novel with a transmigrated protagonist and a system. the only difference is the protagonist is a woman and she has a reborn ML simping after her. I think it's fine. the MC is a little dense, but she used to be alone in the literal zombie apocalypse, so her social skills being bad is normal. the ML being a simp can be a little annoying sometimes, but the MC is literally not interested in any kind of romance, so if he wasn't like that there would be no romance. the characters are interesting to read about. the beast taming isn't really focused on much; the pets are basically AFKing in the space most of the time. there's not a lot of data or statistics for the pets either after she gets them. I would say it's exactly what you think a femfreq beast taming novel to be like. instead of focusing on being the strongest and becoming OP, it's more about interpersonal relationships. it's not bad at that but I do wish the beast taming novel cared about the beast taming more. 4 stars for effort and bc I really like seeing traditional male genre works with female protagonists.
ETA:
-I can't tell if this is a mistagged reverse harem or if it's just a shura field. the above is for only one of the MLs introducted - Chu Li. anyway, the shura field is really inexplicable. I don't understand any of them hanging around her except for Chu Li. he has a reason he's in love with her, the others are kinda collected like Pokémon.
-i don't personally like how money hungry she is. or spiritual plant hungry, I guess. the system has a shop where she can use points to buy anything, but she compromises her morals, time and energy for 1 or 2 spiritual grasses that, yes are expensive, but would only take a few months of points saved to buy. she does this repeatedly. I also don't know why she's rushing so much; her motivations aren't explained well.
