I honesting have a strong preference for urban life and realistic reliving of the past 3 decades. And this one has help me unveil alot of the geo-political and economical reasons why certain events happened. Of course, as a chines author there'll be lots of china vs the world triumph scenes, what do you expect. If the another author from the western world would pen the same story, then the bias will always be there. This has been one of my favourite real urban life, re:live past, do-overs, with real events and a satisfying ending. I've learnt about about different investment terms and financial manoeuvres. Despite the great amount of bias for chinese (as this is a chinese novel), this story has been great. Thanks to ai translations, this story could be somewhat continued here on WTR since the original TL dropped it. Overall, a realistic to modern and post modern world events with realistic financial terms and business manoeuvres that are griping in their own way. The side characters are also interesting and people's names are real in most places. (I've tried to add terms to make it as real as possible).

I see a lot of people have left such biased review (particularly low ratings), and would like to enlighten all that this novel is a slow-paced and well-written novel with a strong focus on exploration. The "gold-finger" per se is quite different from other transmigration novels, where this MC is "technically" a person of the cultivation world - Xuanwei World, who's regularly visiting a modern world (a parallel of Earth>China). The gold-finger isn't overpowered in that all the MC can bring is knowledge and his own ability. He is both pragmatic, down-to-earth and smart. You will not find those blatant scenes of face-slapping that is so stereotypical of cultivation novels these day. Rather the "face-slapping" has become more subtle and humours. Sides Characters unlike what some people have rated, have a lot more depth and character of their surroundings. A good example is the novel called "The Mirror Legacy", which also has "smart" villains and side characters with intrigue. In this novel the intrigue is much more innocuous and more often than not rivalries are portrayed with light-heartedness and world issues are given out with both seriousness and mirth. Honestly, I find this novel well-written, light-hearted and a delight to read. Characters are 3D with vivid and subtle descriptions. World setting is realistic and story pace is steady (or could be quite slow) depending on taste. The jokes aren't forced and humour is presented through expression rather than idioms, which is why MTL is still readable. The first to 100th chapters are slow because the author is establishing 2 very vivid worlds with lively and animated inhabitants. The pace is slightly monotonous (depends on taste) and slow, but I love it.
