This is the best of times! Japanese anime is filled with the restlessness of the era, devoid of any emotional resonance. There's no *Hikaru no Go*, no *Detective Conan*, no *One Piece*, no *Dragon Ball*, and certainly no *Naruto*. Those works that once swept the light novel world haven't appeared yet: no *Sword Art Online*, no *The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya* series, no *A Certain Magical Index*, and certainly no *Monogatari* series. Not to mention those visual novels that swept the ACG world—Key's four masterpieces, Feng's *Sky Trilogy*, Type-Moon's *Tsukihime* and *Fate*, *White Album*… Instead, there are other excellent works. Just as Yiqing was about to build a two-dimensional empire… Eek! Kirino Kousaka, Mashiro Shiina, Utaha Kasumigaoka, Umaru Doma, μ's… how did you all suddenly appear out of the two-dimensional world?!
