Devouring Wasteland: From Slaves to Machine Overlords

I am Zero Seven, slave number Zero Seven.

In the rust-covered graveyard of the apocalypse, they said I was a failed experiment—the “Prometheusian fire” beating in my chest, originally a defective product discarded by technological tycoons, tore open a crack in evolution when I was on the verge of death.

Gears turned flesh and blood, hydraulic pipes replaced blood vessels, the wreckage of abandoned mechs became my skeleton, and the core of an alien warship became my heart.

I devour all machinery, from rusted screws to overwhelming weapons of war, from the tycoon's cyborg assassins to the steel vanguard of extraterrestrial civilizations. Every sound of tearing metal is a stepping stone for me to climb from the scrap heap to the altar.

When the shadow of alien harvesting fleets looms over civilization, and the entire world kneels before the steel torrent, I stand atop the mechanical graveyard, my fingertips gathering the light of a star core.

"You're reaping lives?"

I ripped off the enemy's reactor, feeling the energy explode inside my body, my metal skeleton humming with excitement.
