There's also the endless nerfing the author imposes on the characters, as well as the near-total lack of development of the Devil Fruits they acquire. It's all well and good to have 30 or 100 Devil Fruits, but if their use remains at a beginner's level, you might as well not include them at all. Proper development of a Devil Fruit is about as useful as a fireball from an apprentice mage who's only capable of lighting a campfire..
