What I love about Douluo Dalu is the unique concept of martial souls and soul skills. I enjoy stories where the protagonist explores their martial spirit, gains powerful soul bones, forms a team, creates fusion skills, and embarks on a true journey toward godhood. However, most fanfics fail to deliver this.
Instead of meaningful growth or exploration, many fanfics focus on forced harems, pointless Tang San-bashing, or joining factions without reason. If a writer wants to include Bibi Dong or Zhu Zhuqing in a romance, it should be earned through a well-developed plot — not forced and cringy tropes.
I want to see the Douluo Dalu world through the eyes of a real person, not someone just trying to overpower canon. Fanfiction should enhance the story, not distort its spirit.
Rating: 3/5
The first 300 chapters were great, with a unique concept — a tree MC with a human soul and a useful cheat that lets him replicate talents using life force. However, the story falls apart later. The MC isn’t ruthless enough toward humans despite their wrongdoings, and the plot becomes heavily biased — almost all important characters are females (especially humans), while males are mostly villains. Interesting start, but disappointing follow-through.
The story centers around farming and obtaining treasure chests from various plants, with a light comedic undertone. The main character is portrayed as cautious, yet occasionally acts carelessly, adding to the humor. One aspect I find curious is the trend—common in many cultivation novels—of deliberately slowing down the cultivation process. Characters often regress to Qi Level 1 under the justification of expanding their dantian or achieving a stronger foundation for later stages. While this can feel repetitive, the overall narrative remains engaging and enjoyable. I look forward to more updates.
A rare Douluo Dalu fanfic that truly stands out by avoiding the usual pitfalls of excessive romance or forced harems. The MC is refreshingly manipulative, cunning, and ruthlessly strategic—qualities often lacking in similar works. Every move feels calculated and purposeful, unlike other fanfics where hostility toward canon protagonists feels unjustified. Notably, the original female characters like Zhu Zhuqing, Qian Renxue, and Bibi Dong are respected and free from forced relationships.
Despite major plot deviations from the original, these changes lend the story a unique tone focused on power-building and kingdom expansion, offering a refreshing and more coherent alternative to the canon narrative.
As someone who would find dating bothersome and tiring, this is the type of novels I like. No heroine.
I prefer mc staying single and becoming ruthless, meaning he has no weakness for cliche plots
