honestly quite stupid the guy trains for a month and still loses to chimchar thats been training for a weak because of the move ember which isnt very effective against gible, the guy then can evolve which sure in the anime some pokemon evolve before they should like ashs charizard but i still feel like it should be pretty close like maybe lvl15 at the lowest and he somehow loses to a chimchar that is unlikely to be above level 10, then 5 years later they challenge a gym and the guy doesnt even seem any stronger, just quite annoying tbh, sure i didnt expect or want him to be op but being beaten so much i think the author is a masochist or something

It's pretty good but it's constantly saying how much he knows but then most ofthe time he doesn't know what's happening and he's just dumb. There is also just way too much foreshadowing it gets a bit annoying.

i enjoyed it until about halfway through then it just completely fell apart like candyfloss in water
