Solid story. Not the usual cup of tea you might find, I've never read a siheyuan story so I have no contrast to express but I was thoroughly enjoying the story.
I started reading on a whim, almost put it down cause its kind of a just normal life story. But I really got into it.
More retro slice of life than anything to me. I dunno if all siheyuan are like that so. But solid writing.
Relatively common set of tropes employed. At this point its less about the trope and how well does the author utilize them.
Thankfully this one isn't bad at all. The execution is done well. I was into the story enough that I ran into the end of the chapters without noticing. Its not peak content by any means but solid.
Its a very good story. Very.. odd story?
The title and description are slightly deceiving. Not because they want to be but because most books with titles like this are trash and this one isn't.
Story as of current chapters (266) should be quite a bit longer, the plot and pacing are setup for a much longer story.
Story is not a fast paced nonsensical story that will burn itself out in 200 chapters.
The pacing is excellent if you're not interested in reading that usual nonsense.
Character is satisfyingly strong but not so strong that it breaks the story.
I dunno man. The author is a retard. The story is better than it should be for how stupid the author is. Take that for whatever it is worth I guess.
If author could get out of his own way story is ok. But author can't keep his own story straight in the first 100 chapters. And not like small details, like critical aspects.
Unfortunate.
Its not rigorous but its a cleanly written fun read. MC is and isn't OP in a way that the author does well. The pacing is well done, fast, or efficient maybe, but well done.
