just because of a stupid decision to make MC a loser in the eyes of others. I don't like that. such a plot move has long outlived its usefulness, and initially it was extremely nasty. you either make a loser who makes his way through all obstacles on his own, or you make a cool dude who goes over heads and shows everyone his talent. I don't want to insult the author, but it's extremely difficult to restrain myself.
