The novel is great, tries to tell us a cultivation story from the viewpoint of the monsters, the protagonist is a pure demon beast that was just a normal snake, but somehow acquired a cultivation method to transform into a dragon after nine transformations. The story begins with our protagonist being just a simple and cautious snake that, different from his peers, rarely ate humans and just ate farm animals, even then he only ate a little bit, enough so that no one would go after him. That changes when he met with something strange, a dead mortal suddenly revived saying incoherent stuff about immortals and what not so he was going to retreat judging the human as dangerous, but that human had noticed the snake and decided to kill it and refine its demon core. Our protagonist noticed that the human thought he was not an intelligent demon so he decided to risk his life and ambush him for survival. In this fight he swallows the mortal and ends up severely injured and unconscious, when he regains consciousness he notices a mysterious cauldron replacing his destroyed demon core and it gave him a cultivation method for snakes to turn into dragons, since then he will meet a lot of humans and monsters and slowly find his purpose in this world. There is a little bit of romantic subplot but is not the focus, which is great, up to last chapter there is only one dao companion, things happened naturally and took way over 1k chapters of development. Our snake protagonist is a bit dull on the feelings side as he is not human, he slowly picks up human emotions which at some parts causes him to almost fall to the devil path, but he got right on track and formed his own path, neither human nor monster, just him following his heart and conscience. At the moment, chap 1611, our protagonist has already passed 7 transformations: dragon scales, dragon bones, dragon veins, dragon blood, dragon qi, dragon heart, dragon aspect/form (no idea if this is correct). One volume one transformation, next is dragon soul and eye.

I kind of liked how the author tries to mix cultivation and science. The higher realms are your typical cultivation worlds with ancient china lifestyles, so the MC tries to mix earth's culture and science with cultivation. It has two downsides one is the blind nationalism and racism, the other is treating women like trash, otherwise the story would be interesting.
