While the pacing is somewhat slow(mostly daily life writing), the story does flow quite well and at least it does try to make the plot rational.

Ignore low rating reviews because they certainly aren't looking for this type of villain novel.
This novel plays to its strength and any child of destiny who met the mc is killed with no BS escape and another encounter down the line. There's even a Fang Yuan who plays with Gu and had 3 reincarnations yet the mc straight up teleport to the next reincarnation after he killed the previous one until Fang Yuan is completely dead.
The family background is actually useful, the mc doesn't have to do everything by himself. Their influence and power basically remove dumb protagonist allies and shit from helping them to escape or gain power.
As for heroines and such they're mostly there to be used as cauldrons for dual cultivation stuff. This part can be easily skimmed.
Tldr : if the tags in synopsis fits your preference, then this novel will be a good read for you.
