Once I realized that this is the current book by the same author that wrote "Hogwarts Emerald" my expectations became high and they haven't been disappointed yet.
Good writing, engaging characters and a sensible engagement with and development of the original plot. And the Asian/ Chinese mannerisms and idiosyncrasies are minor and don't detract from my enjoyment.
Honestly, I doubt if those that complain about the MC being a doormat have even read the story. Or if they only consider the faceslappiest of faceslap protagonists to not be a pushover.
A bat-shit insane crack fic that made me chuckle quite a bit. 900 % pure memes.
Is it a good story? Not really, no. But it's entertaining enough.
There's some of that weird Chinese nationalism and some contemporary geopolitics commentary in the later chapters.
Honestly, probably one of the best Harry Potter stories I've read so far. The typical web-novel style and it's tropes and trappings work surprisingly well with the Harry Potter setting.
