Pretty good. I liked it and I definitely recommend it. Short and precise (very rare for a Chinese book). Nice power scaling. MC thought pattern I can accept. The only shortcoming is that everything seems to happens in like a week (I'm exaggerating only a little).
I started reading this way back when it started (because RI obviously) but gave up for a while ; it was so good damn boring. And yes author is paid by word count, there is no other explanation. 50 chapters to do a simple twist with many bits copied from previous chapters with little added pov from side characters. Come on, with each new plot point every readers is able to deduce the reasons of the different characters actions. No need to spell it all out. The book takes itself too seriously.
I remember back then dear author was saying this would be better than RI. Hmph, it's like he doesn't know why RI was so popular back then. Yes the world building was great but what really made it shine was that Fang Yuan always has long and short term goals with detailed and well though out plan to achieve them (the plans not working just showed that the secondary character were as intelligent as him or more). This MC is just dragged along the plot, a leaf blown by the wind. And the internal monologue and self questioning oh my god. I know why it's there but the constant nagging was hard. Then the "big' revelation and an anticlimactic end to the first volume. Anyways, after 200+ chapters, the RI effect wore off and I'll be putting this aside,(for some years probably).
Overall good. It never bored or annoyed me too much and I like the MC's thinking (most of the times). Also great power system, I'm tired of protagonists killing people two ranks above them with no other explanations besides they're the chosen ones.
