its a female protagonist don't 1 star it for bad translation of the pronouns. there's nothing wrong with it. it's a gender-swapped standard road survival genre. I think it's going fine so far.
c65: ah.... the nationalism starts..... will update if it gets unreadable
ETA: it's fine 👍
there's not a lot of nationalism or racism in this story. it might be bc the US was blown up by Yellowstone at the beginning, and Japan was blasted by hail the size of fists. he doesn't become super OP overnight. he is trading a lot and showing off his wealth, but I don't think it's a big issue? only his best friend knows where his shelter is, and no one actually knows how much resources he has. the more tech he has access to, the more black tech he can create. so he either has to steal tech from somewhere (? how) or trade it for resources that are renewable to him. he has no problems with food production and excess food can get him stuff he needs, so why not do it? his name is Xiao En. both Google translate and ai think his name is Sean. I don't think it's an issue, esp since the author made a Shaun the Sheep joke at the beginning. I am getting a little bored with it but that's bc there's not a lot of conflict in the story, and I don't think it does a good job of expressing tension. he's alone most of the time, and the base progress is also slow. I don't know if it's wise to hand over black tech to people to exchange for more tech that he can upgrade, but any conflict at all in the story is a good thing. the story needs for things to happen. if this guy is alone in this base for all 350ish chapters and never gets into any conflict at all and does everything with ease, that will be incredibly boring.
the author said this is a story for women and she's very correct. I think any man reading this might feel bad, but I really think it's no different from the usual urban cool stories with male protagonists. it's female wish fulfillment at the peak. I still support the author unconditionally.
it's a normal beast taming novel with a transmigrated protagonist and a system. the only difference is the protagonist is a woman and she has a reborn ML simping after her. I think it's fine. the MC is a little dense, but she used to be alone in the literal zombie apocalypse, so her social skills being bad is normal. the ML being a simp can be a little annoying sometimes, but the MC is literally not interested in any kind of romance, so if he wasn't like that there would be no romance. the characters are interesting to read about. the beast taming isn't really focused on much; the pets are basically AFKing in the space most of the time. there's not a lot of data or statistics for the pets either after she gets them. I would say it's exactly what you think a femfreq beast taming novel to be like. instead of focusing on being the strongest and becoming OP, it's more about interpersonal relationships. it's not bad at that but I do wish the beast taming novel cared about the beast taming more. 4 stars for effort and bc I really like seeing traditional male genre works with female protagonists.
ETA:
-I can't tell if this is a mistagged reverse harem or if it's just a shura field. the above is for only one of the MLs introducted - Chu Li. anyway, the shura field is really inexplicable. I don't understand any of them hanging around her except for Chu Li. he has a reason he's in love with her, the others are kinda collected like Pokémon.
-i don't personally like how money hungry she is. or spiritual plant hungry, I guess. the system has a shop where she can use points to buy anything, but she compromises her morals, time and energy for 1 or 2 spiritual grasses that, yes are expensive, but would only take a few months of points saved to buy. she does this repeatedly. I also don't know why she's rushing so much; her motivations aren't explained well.
there is no world building, character development or plotline in this story. it's just numbers go up. any antagonist is squished like a bug. it's fine 乁( •_• )ㄏ
it's surprisingly horny when the younger sister starts teaming with the MC. I don't think the author has siblings. the gender bender seems to not be too fetishy? it's more like a slow changing of the MC's state of mind. the MC really doesn't notice the changes early on. I can't finish reading this though; I can't get past the weird incest-adjacent vibes.
it's a little ridiculous and nonserious but I like it a lot. the MC has a screw loose in a way I appreciate. there isn't a lot of focus on reality but the game world is pretty fun.
so it's really not very good. from the synopsis, you'd think this is a story about someone being reborn and being able to change the frustrating things that happened to them in their past life, kick aside the scumbags, and reach the pinnacle of life, right? well... the MC is reborn when he's been married to the scum girl for 5 years. they have never had sex at all, and in the last life it was revealed that neither of the children were his. he was beaten by his brother-in-law to the hospital, and that's when he woke up. he clamoured for a divorce, went to his wife's natal home and yelled for a divorce in front of the neighbours. she countered with the fact that she's already pregnant, so she won't agree to divorce, making the MC a scum man. so, logically, the MC should double down on the fact that they've never had sex and the child is literally not his, right? especially since he publicly stated that the reason for him asking for the divorce now is not only because of the brother-in-law beating, it's also because of the sex thing. so saying that his wife cuckolded him publicly is reason enough, right? well. he doesn't say this. he doesn't even tell his parents the child isn't his, so his parents are no longer on board with him divorcing, and they want to send money and gifts to the pregnant wife as an apology. he takes the money and spends it immediately, telling no one of his plans or why he's doing this. so literally no one understands what he's on about. his reputation is in the gutter as a man who seems insane, wanting to divorce his pregnant wife, disobeying his elders and flagrantly spending money on useless things. this is the start of the story. it's not a breath of fresh air, nor new beginnings. even if it turns around later, the opening chapters are so frustrating to read that I really don't care if things start going super well for him later. if it's not his kid, it's not his kid. why not say so? why not tell your parents this? its really baffling.
the nationalism is pretty bad at the point where the regional channel opens. at c52 we are still in the novice zone, so the pacing is pretty slow as well.
ETA: after c740, the story really starts meandering a lot. there's so much to do that the MC is always rushing about, and the things he's doing are all things that are super above his level/the level in his last life, so there's a lot of mysteries unsolved. the con to this is that it's pretty boring. he finishes one arc after another and there's not a lot of actual story progression in it. the story isn't really grounded in anything at this point. it's just face-slapping, tournament arc, face-slapping, tournament arc, then going to new worlds to steal items... the hard and fast rules of the world don't seem to apply to either the MC or people from other worlds. so the stakes get bigger and bigger but they don't mean anything. idk if I'll finish this, I might dnf.
it is indeed a little weird. it's a little fetishy about the lily parts. the world also isn't described well or in detail very much. the author mainly has the common knowledge of the world put in brackets after the character mentions something we don't know about. it's a little jarring. there's also no sense of urgency or conflict, despite the MC knowing that the "Shadow Council" wants to kill her and her best friend. it feels very light and nonserious. I don't think it's bad, I just think it's not to my taste.
