domineering rich young lady (transmigrated into the story, is the gender-bent one) X silly white sweet OG heroine of the story. it's good 👍 the parts where the MC is basically tempting the heroine to "sin" is very gradual and sweet. I'll add to the review if anything changes/more stuff I like shows up.
ETA:
-the will of the world/heavenly dao plotline is a little infuriating to read about, but it is true that some malefreq urban novels are like that. so I can't really complain.
- finished it. it's good 👍
untagged harem, horny narration. unrelated to this, objectively an okay story. there's no nationalism or racism yet, mainly bc the global channel is completely blocked and no one can use it. the MC's cheat isn't OP, he just gets +1 to every reward. that doesn't mean double the reward, it's literally a +1 on top. so for things like gaining attribute points it's great! you get 1 point per level, adding 1 means the MC gets double points. but if he kills a zombie higher than level 1 and gets more than 1 xp or 1 gold, it's just +1. the cheat is genuinely interesting and I was enjoying the story. it is a shame that it went from "MC is a complete egoist, he doesn't want any companions" to "well, humans need company, and this brother and sister duo are useful and both have s level talents, why not work together" to "damn this female CEO is super beautiful and she also has an s level talent and wants to literally climb into the MC's bed". if you like harem stories maybe try this one? if you don't, don't bother, I only see this getting worse, not better.
I don't think the ending was abrupt. the story is pretty short, and the author could've absolutely continued writing it forever, but the last author's note is pretty clear: it would just be padding the word count. and I agree, there's no reason to continue. the story feels like a peek into this 1 year in the MC's life and it's pretty good for what it is. the horror game plots were good. the character ensembles were good. the tropey brainless villains were sent packing with a swiftness so that the story could get to the real meat - the horror. and I think this is a very tight, well thought out and well-planned story.
I don't think there's anything wrong with the system not being heaven-defying, life-changingly OP at the start. all it does is help the MC farm better and give rewards for farming better depending on the quality of the plant raised. that's good enough for what the story is. I don't think the MC is too kind; he was literally contemplating killing a random who sold him a very precious spirit plant on the off chance that the guy (who has no idea who the MC is) could leak the info of the plant and what it could do (even though if literally anyone knew what the plant could do, the MC couldn't buy it). it's what it says on the tin. instead of fighting his way to the top, the MC will farm. it's not outstanding or groundbreaking, and I hope it stays this way.
i dont think this story is very well thought out. the MC gets a cheat that is extremely OP. he has infinite backpack space, infinite money, infinite health, infinite stamina... he's mega OP, okay? the backpack also has this function where you put in 1 item and it can multiply itself to 9999 (but really it's infinite). he even went to a supermarket and bought one of each item and stored it in the backpack, so you know that the author agrees that this is something the MC can do. so can anybody explain why the MC then proceeds to go to different countries, not to buy 1 of each item, but empty out whole warehouses and armouries? and then the author proceeds to dunk on other countries' poor national security, stating that they're lax and "China" would never be so stupid as to get all their stuff stolen like this. but the MC has an infinite stealth cheat, where he turns completely invisible and undetectable. and he can teleport. and he can even steal items that are sealed away without even opening the box. also I'm not sure if the author did this on purpose, but the MC hired a doomsday bunker company to build a bunker for him, but then later on the MC edits the apartment of one of the people who helped him in the past life, and now the apartment is basically a bomb shelter on like the 11th floor. so why did he need a bunker company specifically if he could just edit any place into a super high tech bunker? like...he also has an apartment! I'm not saying the story is shit, I'm just confused.
the author made the MC's talent too OP, so the apocalypse game doesn't mean anything to him anymore. the story could've ended in 10 chapters. the author didn't do that, though. instead, the system that brought them to play this apocalypse game is sentient and displeased that the 1 SSS+ level talent was actually drawn, and decides to reveal the MC's luxurious life to everyone in the chat channel without the MC's knowledge. for an intro, I don't think it's thought through well. the author didn't have to make the MC so OP at the start; a gradual increase would've been fine. I think the force majeure is cheap and not done well. making the MC too OP also makes the story have to rely on human to human conflict for plot, but everyone in the game is literally never going to be the MC's opponent, so it's boring.
it's quite good. the beginning of the novel is no different from other train type survival novels where you get modules and continue forever, but the author does have their own innovations and story after that. the mystery is done well. I didn't get bored reading up until here.
I don't think the story is horrible, I just don't like how the MC does things. the woman in his previous life killed him, so in this life (before they had any interaction at all), he actively finds her in the crowd and beats her up, letting her form a grudge. knowing that this is a vicious woman who would do something like string a guy along with her looks for 6 years to benefit herself. he let her see his face, and she actively hates him now. why didn't he just take revenge later when she would least expect it? like, he's a stranger to her, wouldn't that make more sense? he lived in this world for 6 years so he should be wiser and less rash about things like this. the lord gameplay/kingdom building also isn't a huge focus either in the beginning, which makes the story very boring to me. the adventure maps also aren't described in detail either, so it's difficult to visualise anything that's happening. imagine the MC walking around in a grey space doing things that aren't explained well and you have this story.
disclaimer: I only actually read 10 chapters. the whole premise of the story seems to be nonsense. wdym a woman DREAMED she was assaulted by the MC and the police went "yea seems legit" and actually ARRESTED HIM, gave him a MURDER CHARGE, found NO EVIDENCE bc during the murder time he was in the hospital UNDER CONSTANT SURVEILLANCE, and then TORTURED HIM for SEVEN. YEARS. I genuinely don't know what to say. I don't even know what the author is trying to imply with this. is it that all rape victims are liars? that the police are stupid and corrupt? that all women want to torture men and given a position of power over a man they'd enslave and torture one for no reason? none of the antagonists introduced in the beginning of the book make sense as to why they hate the MC. it sounds like a random classmate had a normal nightmare and decided to ruin this guy's life, the police for no reason agreed to torture this high school student, they specifically found a female detective to "find evidence" who is actively known to torture out confessions and trumped up charges. this world is wack and makes no logical sense. it's not even wack in a humourous way, it's just insane. idk who this would appeal to.
