In my opinion, it's a really cool novel, I don't understand why you care so much about religion in literary fiction. The author himself mentioned in one of the chapters that it's a different world where they don't even know who Jesus and God are. That's why because it's fiction you can write whatever you want. There's no need to get so worked up about it and especially to give one star if you're put off by one sentence. You should evaluate the world presented, the rules governing the world, the levels of power, the development of characters, etc. and only then give a rating (:
