Starting was quite good. Mc had a goal and has plans. Later it felt like author has made mc not leaving the village a too forced. He also had too much chances to get a just of his confucian, painting and other capabilities but author just make some coincidences to make him ignorant, like the sage who he can battle in virtual friend list. The reason I am leaving is he shows the spirit of not wanting trouble but not being afraid either and then suddenly he becomes so scared to even put a step out of village.

The story is good. The only problem is dumb MC. Simulation cheats are one of the most op ones and specially when you can redeem the gains of simulation. So the author may have lowered the MC's iq making him do many unnecessary things in simulation than to properly plan and cultivate, so that the difficulty remains and a sense of suspense and emergency stays throughout the story. Other than that it's pretty good to read to kill time.
