It was a good story but there’s a huge logic issue which is cannons and guns. There’s nothing wrong with introducing them, but introducing them will lead to disastrous consequences if not done quick enough. If nearby kingdoms reverse engineer it, then they suddenly gain a huge advantage. The MC introduced it and it’s being used actively, yet only produced small scale with minor focus on expansion. weapon development ends empires. More sensible is to do it at a massive scale immediately, then conquer enemies before they can react or reverse engineer guns. The MC is expanding so fucking slowly it hurts. If gunpowder didn’t exist the story would be fine. If gunpowder was introduced but the Wei Dynasty was a hegemon it would be fine. It’s not. It has three competitors bordering it. It is just… nonsensical that they would be able to keep that advantage, especially since gunpowder was already known. Reverse engineering guns is a genuine threat.

Finished reading this garbage novel in ~2 weeks. It is a fucking disappointment. I regret the time spent on reading this. Try to drop this novel before you reach the end - it fucking sucks. Or don't read this novel at all. I wish this novel was eunuch'd instead of 'completed'. I didn't understand the other 1 star review until 950chs in.

I actually completed reading this novel. On fanmtl :sob: which is very questionable mtl but it was a fun experience. Please, give this novel a try.

Decent novel, but I dropped it. Ultimately, this is an urban novel. No romance, no harem, no racism, and even the nationalism is toned down. But it’s an urban novel and has the flaws and mediocrity of an urban novel.

Very mediocre novel. If you have nothing else to read and you like urban actor novels, you can read this.

Idk if you've read Jackal Among Snakes, which is a royalroad webnovel, but this is basically that, but Chinese. Pretty fun to read. Give it a try! Warning: semi-harem. In the sense mc has relations with many women, but no serious relationships. If you have a more liberal mindset towards sexual relations this isn’t an issue. No female lead so can’t be said this is harem or cheating, mc is just messing with many women.
