Very traditional Xianxia setting. MC is reincarnated into a game he has played where he was building a dao of ruthlessness character. The book starts with the MC being in a damaged state due to being stuck by backlash due to some reason(probably due to going against the heavens?). The book is vague intentionally at many places to seem more deep than it is. If you have seen some cultivation movies then this is pretty much exactly like that. There is a lot of sudden things happening which is a characteristic of this kind of eastern fantasy where the supernatural and cultivation elements keep influencing the normal ancient settings. It is interesting to read if you have the patience for it. The vibe is pretty dark overall with a true dog eat dog world setting. The characters are changing as more of the plot happens and you can really get immersed in this world if you want. Just go with the flow and don't dig too deep. It is very fun and how different character act and how their relationships are with the MC of the past and of present is very interesting and the contrast is kinda cool. Worth it if you want to read a good cultivation novel with a good helping of harem. The harem isn't perfunctory kind where they fall in love at first sight, but is built up. Like at this point(ch77) we have one confirmed relationship and that has been brewing for 1500 years. True star crossed lover shit. Very romantic. I loved it. Recommended!! I will update the review if my thoughts change as more relationships and world setting is added in more chapters.
Edit at ch100: Alright the Author flipped the script. Not bad. This got more interesting. I won't spoil the plot twist but it seems we are gonna have a dangerous shuraba at some point. This is gonna be epic if Author can maintain this quality. Looking forward to it.
Very sweet and very fun. While some of the initial setting is a bit hand wavey, once you get to the main part which is the relationship between the MC and the Twins everything settles down and you get to enjoy the absolutely sugary sweet romance and familiar affection. At ch71 the girls are aware of their feelings and are also aware of the fact that the MC just sees them as siblings and have decided to actively pursue and prepare for the future. The MC on his part is conscious of them but keeps suppressing the thought with sibling affection so we definitely gonna get a good ending on this one(I hope. Else I will drop the rating). No other harem members or complicated relationship drama. Till now it is all sunshine and rainbows for the most part with a good sweet SoL and romance feel. I hope we maintain atleast the general vibe even if we get some trial and tribulations to add some drama to make that tag work in the future.
Recommended if you want a good sweet romance with 2 very close childhood sweethearts and a caring and worthy MC.
Edit at ch96: MC finally has accepted that he likes them romantically and is willing to accept their affections. Great victory! It should be stable sugary romance going forward surely.
Great book, the only minus for me is that he overly describes some plots of the game which i get is cool but when you know them it gets kinda annoying but you can always skip a chapter or two. So the biggest minus is the lack of chapters.
Not too bad, good up to middle.
Get confusing when author start portraying Hagoromo as a Villain.
Also those 1 star review saying MC timid, Too Op and the rest. Don't read them, their brain cell just couldn't understand planning.
By no means perfect, but it's a great novel nonetheless. Doesn't diverge too much from other novels with a similar premise, a plus being that the system isn't too outlandish in the rewards it provides to the MC. To an extent, the manner in which the MC has to go about acquiring his rewards is quite satisfying as they're not directly handed to him.
No face-slapping at all, nor unreasonable characters who go out of their way to antagonize the MC or those related to him. At most petty interludes that come and go quickly and don't detract from the story.
As for the romance, its okay. The first love interest isn't really all that special with her pursuits in life being a bit superficial at first and being a bit money orientated. Fortunately, she knows her limits and shows appropriate restraint along with considering the MC's wellbeing and thoughts at every instant. Thus far, she's the only one the MC has developed a "proper" relationship with. There's another woman who'll most likely(100%) develop a romantic relationship with him soon, but things are moving a lot slower in comparison to his first relationship and it feels like the author is intentionally making the MC dense despite several instances of emotional fluctuations shown from this woman, nor does it seem that he intends on making any move on her, at least not yet. Can't complain too much about that aspect however as its a relief that the MC isn't just collecting women randomly at an unreasonable pace just for the sake of it.
Anyhow, do give this a read, Well worth it, just unfortunate that the updates seem a bit slow. That’s just me being greedy for more chapters though.
-1 for nationalism/racism. Goblins speak a "certain" language, and then they're described as dirty and horrible. The MC named his main dungeon and alliance as Great Xia. But if you can look past it, it's decent.
Decent read, like a 3.5 / 5 . The world setting is somewhat interesting, but the main premise is the people reaction to the different dungeons (games) the MC recreates from real life
