The initial story is not appealing. This is one of the many wish-fulfillment, child-like perspective writing. The author failed to provide an interesting start. With so many story mybe similar to this. All comes to reading an MC and System yapping to each other. More relevant comment can be read below
In Chapter 1: "Lu Hao was originally a freshman in college, whose greatest hobby was reading novels, especially those brainless, feel-good stories."
The Author provided a clear foreshadowing of his own novel.
Although a cultivation novel, it is a slice of life. As of writing, I am on ch 284, the author provided and interesting a captivating story about characters. even I was expecting an action-packed cultivation story. The author was able to balance the MC's Cultivation story and the world building - the presentation of characters around him, how it is developed through time. A decent read.
Some said that a copy of TTP, while reading it, i didn't care at all, when novel gives you enjoyment and captures tour interest, anything else is unnecessary.
The novel contains the intreacy of political drama of the Ming Dynasty. The novel is best for readers who want to read a serious political novel. With no magic whatsoever. The seriousness and drama of the story may drive readers to boredom or attract interest of the nerds and historical fanatics.
Another sign in novel. Funny thing is the System gives the MC ten times dailly sign in based on family's luck, most of the rewards are just days of cultivation rewards at least. A one critical hit will appear out of ten rewards a day which gives OP things. One chapter happened to give MC two critical hits, and System said it was a bug, and no future events will happen that a critical hit will happen more than once. After later chapters, crackhead author gave three critical hits in a single sign in. If you read much of this kind of genre, every chapter will no longer impress you. Its mediocre at its finest.
That was very shaky start. What's up with the Pictures inside a novel? Doing things like this shows how shallow the author thinking is, and how failed an author to describe his characters and just rely on illustrations. The author lacks the creativity in writing to bring out his artistry on the characters, the environment, the plot and entire novel itself.
At chapter 21 the MC got 33 wives and concubines already. With so many novel with same genre of making wives and baby to be strong, the author failed to provide a unique blend of cultivation story that keeps the interest of readers. While reading this novel, I have a cringe feeling. The author seems to have fetish desires of bombarding the novel with tons of pictures. The novel is overcooked.
Until Ch 300, most chapters are about simulations, he simulations every month [until ch 300 changes to every year] and the real world story progress was very slow. Its only the MC gotten stronger, super strong that less than 300 chapters, only less than half-year of real word time passed, and he was just 8 Years Old, and from the Body Tempering Realm, to Saint Ruler Realm (probably 9-10 levels apart) in a span of less than a year. Most of you might find it boring to read the simulations that last several chapter, but to mind you, important details of the plot is mostly related to it. If you skip the simulation chapters, you will find it very confusing to read the later chapters. I also noticed that are rougly conversation/dialogues, all narrations. Later chapters becomes boring as the simulation just taken over the entire story rather than the MC developing real-life story.
Edit: reaching 500 chapter. Dropping now. Thare are many drawbacks of a Simulation novel, maybe like other novels if poorly writter, but in this case, is failed to provide a cohesive story, much more so, in keeping the readers excited and glued. Every after simulation the MC will go out and kill all the variables and enemies based from the simulation. Then when new simulation comes, everything will reset from day 1. Note that later simulations will last 100 chapters, and lasting hundreds if not million of years, imagine the frustration of reading simulations every time again and again with different story progressesion.
Update till less than 500 chapter, in the real world only less than 2 years passed. Not interested anymore to care for later story.
The first 50 chapter was frustrating, especially the first two disciples, but there was somehow a character development later. As of writing, I am on Ch 180, and so far it is decent. But not excellent. Some translation problems. Story development is also interesting, a slight deviation from the usual sect-leader- babysitting -the whole sect. The author later on focuses on introducing various new charcters, new business affliations to the extent that the MC cultivation was forgotten. The MC became more of a businessman than a cultivator. Some items rewarded by the system were not useful enough, like the author just give away item prized but was not relevant enough being mentioned or used on later chapter. the author seems to have a short term memory lost to some extent. The author seems to struggle to oganize the plot development - being slow. "What I Teach you is real stuff" only happens at initial chapters, everything goes cliché later on.
