Beautiful and meaningful in a way these sort of stories almost never are. It's actually not a power fantasy. It's a little slow paced, but the emotional payoff from the intelligent characters and rigorous setting are more than worth it. It has real heart.
It has some nice characters and world building but the MC swiftly becomes OP and never has to take fights seriously which detracts a lot from the martial arts and plotting. He's basically fated to be the Invincible super emperor from the start. Would have been much better with more tension and stakes.
A half-assed story with a rushed ending. Although it's fine in most areas, such as characters and world building, it is full of gaping holes that get glossed over. For a story about ghost cultivation, it never bothers to explain or develop that ever. Also many plot points are left undeveloped by the rushed ending. Thus the story ends up feeling very random.
Starts alright, but gets increasingly dumb and nonsensical as power levels increase. Everyone starts teleporting around enslaving and pillaging everywhere that is plot convenient. Why didn't anyone do this to the protonagnist? Plot armor. The entire story becomes nothing but incredible plot armor where the rules don't apply to the MC's family. Additionaly the main characters go from scheming and ruthless to foaming at the mouth psychos. We are told that this is smart and normal in their world, but if it were than the family would have been enslaved long ago. It just bad writing. The MC isn't smart, no matter how many times the author tells readers he is. His ruthlesness and jackassery are only possible thanks to his plot armor, which is so thick it's more like he's carrying around his own plot mountain.
This is a novel that could have been great, but instead it ended up generic and flawed. Instead of "enduring", the MC becomes the fastest and strongest genius like ever. His golden finger also only helps him personally. This means he leaves his small sect far behind and it becomes irrelevant. The story is supposed to be about the sect, but it doesn't matter in the slightest. They even replace all their scriptures and inherited dogma everytime the MC trips over a powerful new scripture, so they don't even have a legacy or identity of their own.
I'm not sure why this is a family cultivation novel. The MC is a huge selfish jerk, but he sorta likes his family. At least that's what we're constantly told by the author. His cheats also have nothing to do with helping his family and their growth is super generic and dull. The MC would be better fit for the role of a ruthless lone wanderer. He quickly devolves from a modern person into a foaming at the mouth psycho. It's hard to care about the collection of generic assholes who make up his family. They aren't even very smart.
Alright, the MC is smart but the demonic techniques he gets are all super op and everything goes his way. Why are there even righteous cultivators and mortals left if demonic techniques are better and have no downsides? For instance, the MC has a super convenient slave seal he constantly uses but everyone else never uses such techniques. Sure sure.
